| Name: | Wilde | |
| Bio: | I enjoy psychology and neuroscience, and just about anything that deals with what the brain is and what the brain thinks it is. I also have an inordinate, obsessive love of biology, and have taken lab sciences "for the hell of it." It is common for me to read textbooks for pleasure, less common for me to do so for classes. I find shark studies seductive. I speak Italian, French, and a little bit of Latin, sometimes interchangeably. I adore musicals; I love Oscar Wilde (perhaps too much, occasionally too often). I am Catholic. I designate my profession as Writer, in the sense that if one writes one is a writer, and if one does not then one is not. I do, ergo I am. My favorite thing to do is walk through Florence, Italy, at eleven-thirty at night, after the street-cleaners have passed and the city is presentable. My hobby is planning ways to leave the country for extended periods of time. I have just received my master’s degree in Theology, and have not yet decided to use my power for good or for evil. I have just entered the extended period of time known as "thinking about going back to school." It might last another year. If you stand near me for too long, I'll quote the poetry of Gerard Manley Hopkins in your direction. If you enjoy it, I'll ask you to read my thesis, which has been approved in its final form and has earned me, finally, bragging rights. My eyes are currently the same color as my hair, but the latter has a habit of changing, dependent on the weather, my mood, my location, and the necessity of resembling my passport photo to at least a minor degree. My eyes, depressingly, show no such ability, though I trust that modern science will eventually engender that tendency. I am of average height, average build, and average weight. I prefer blue jeans and tee-shirts; I also love lace and velvet. I would like to think myself a contradiction, or at least an occasional cipher, but I am more common than I would choose to believe. Take of me what you will. This Jack, joke, poor potsherd, | patch, matchwood, immortal diamond, Is immortal diamond. - Gerard Manley Hopkins, 1888 | |
